Dean Allison was first elected as the Member of Parliament for the newly created riding of Niagara West-Glanbrook on June 28, 2004, and has been re-elected with in each subsequent general election since that time. In 2015 the riding boundaries were changed in accordance with the requirements of Statistics Canada and the most recent census. On October 19th, 2015 Dean was re-elected and is now the Member of Parliament for the newly formed riding of Niagara West.
A graduate of Wilfrid Laurier University with a degree in Economics, Dean established himself in the Niagara area through growing businesses and working for a major franchise organization.
He served his community as President of the West Lincoln Memorial Hospital Foundation, as President of the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce, a Director of the Ontario Trillium Foundation, and as a board member of Junior Achievement in Niagara.
Dean is also a founding member of the Dave Thomas Adoption Foundation in Canada and the Belarus Children of Chernobyl program that brings children affected by the Chernobyl disaster to Canada.
In the session of Parliament just ended, in addition to his role as the Member of Parliament for Niagara West-Glanbrook, Dean served as Chair of both the House of Commons Liaison Committee, and the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development.
In 2010, he was appointed to the Conservative Caucus Advisory Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. Dean has also served as the Chair for the Human Resources Skills Development and Status of Persons with Disabilities as well as having been Vice Chair of the Ontario Conservative Caucus and has been on the executive of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the Commonwealth Association. Dean was also appointed by the Prime Minister to the Red Tape Reduction Commission which reached a successful conclusion in presenting a report that assisted the private sector in doing business with the government more easily and effectively.
Dean is a strong advocate for his constituents and works tirelessly on their behalf. Through his efforts hundreds of individuals and numerous businesses have seen a positive result. He is well respected throughout the communities of Niagara West is often be found at many of the various events and meetings throughout the riding.
In addition to his Parliamentary duties, Dean is also a Director of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe Parliamentary Association.
Prior to entering politics, Dean was a successful businessman and entrepreneur. In the years prior to his election as a Member of Parliament, he owned and operated several multi unit national franchises, as well as other business interests, and was the founder and CEO of Griffin Phoenix Capital LLP, a Canadian based investment company with interests across North America. Dean has also served as an executive board member on the Young Entrepreneurs Organization (YEO) and has been a guest speaker at numerous business conferences.
Dean lives in Beamsville with his wife and children.
